On a second step the deinterlacing does not work anymore…īut be warned that with some of the deinterlace models the sound goes mickey mouseĪnd i never convert the DVD vobs to mp4 before i upscale, since veai has never rejected ANY video i importedĪny pre-conversion before upscaling can be negative for the quality… if you dont exactly know what the de-interlace app or you are doing… so better avoid that always

Try not to oversoften with proteus.įor interlaced dvds you need a deinterlace model of course. But on dvds its always gaia or proteus … never the softer ones. So you need to do a lot of previews and compare views … to find the right model for the first step. I use it more and more, especially when gaia produces strange skin in faces… with disturbances on the first step. Using this method i got amazing results even out of 320x240 footage…

to 4k with a softer model like artemis MQ.

to 1080p with a sharpening model like gaia.

Well, i am upscaling dvds (and SD/VHS) for more than a year now, even to 4k … in 2 steps …
